I used to be an assistant for Linwood Boomer, the creator of “Malcolm in
the middle", one of the most successful TV shows in history. Linwood used
to show me the episodes so i could give my opinion on them. To be honest, i don’t
remember any episode that i didn’t like, but one day he told me he wanted to do
a Halloween out of the ordinary.
The episode was recorded on February and was going to be premiered on November;
the episode was titled “Lois possessed by evil”. I though the title referred to
Lois wanting to take revenge on someone or something. However, when i saw it, i
was confused. Even though the episode was good, I wasn’t sure the theme it tackled
was suitable for everyone.
The Episode
The episode started normally. Everything went ok, up until a scene arrived
in which Reese revealed that he had bought a Ouija without knowledge of what it
was. Malcolm y Dewey told Reese that having one was bad. Nevertheless, he didn’t
seem to understand, and later, started playing with it. Then, Lois found Reese playing
with that game and forced him to dispose of it. Reese, then, threw it away, but
some sort of smoke cameo ut the trashcan and got into the family’s house until
it entered Lois’ mouth.
After that, a scene showed where Lois was feeling sick. However, she
rejected to take a rest. Then, the phone
rang. Lois answered, and turned out to be Francise who was calling. He was
working in Alaska and he asked Lois for money to buy something to Piama for her
birthday. Lois started
to argue with him. Nevertheless, suddenly,Lois’ voice changed and
it turned low, as the one of a monster or something like that. She hung, and
Francis got scared from her voice.
The family started to worry about Lois’ behaviour. So Hal went to talk with
her while she was facing backwards and was folding clothes in the room. When
she turned around, her face was grey, he eyes were black and she has a serpent
tongue. I got a good
scare at that moment. Later, Lois approached Hal and
tried to kiss him so he could be like her. Suddenly the boys appeared and
placed a bag on her head to hold her back.
After that, the family went looking for a priest, to perform an exorcism on
Lois, but, since the priest was just an oaf that only cared about money, he was
going to charge a lot to the family. So they decided to call other priests. However,
since all of them were very afraid of Lois, the family was forced to do chores
for the neighbors to pay the first priest.
At the end of the episode, it showed Lois already cured and the family
arguing as usual.
The episode was never broadcasted because the scenes of Lois possessed were
very disturbing, and the subject was too controversial, especially since it was
a show for all audiences.
